What is Canary Days?
Canary Days is an independent guide to Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Graciosa. It covers the islands, their main places, things to do, traditional events, places to stay, weather and food. We are not a tourist board, a tour operator or a booking platform, and no island, business or brand pays to appear in our editorial content.
How is the content made?
- Researched from sources. Every page is researched from official and reputable sources — national park and Cabildo (island council) websites, the official Canary Islands tourism site, AEMET (Spain's meteorological agency), UNESCO, transport operators, municipal sites and reference works such as Wikipedia. The sources used are listed at the bottom of each page, with a "checked on" date showing when the facts were last verified.
- Drafted with AI, reviewed for accuracy. Our texts are drafted with the help of AI tools and reviewed for accuracy against those sources. Figures we cannot verify are left out rather than guessed.
- No invented experiences. We do not publish made-up visits, anecdotes, personal reviews or ratings. Where a page gives advice, it is based on the documented facts — altitude, weather records, access rules — not on a story.
- Licensed photos. Photos come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences, and each one is credited on the page where it appears.
Prices, timetables and access rules change. When something matters for your plans — a permit, a ferry time, an opening hour — confirm it with the official source we link to.
How do we choose places to stay?
Stays are selected on editorial criteria: location (how well they work as a base for the island), character (the building, the setting, what makes them distinct) and verified details (the property is currently operating and its key facts match its own website and booking page). Commission levels play no part in what we include or how we describe it.
How does the site make money?
Some links to accommodation are affiliate links. For example, Booking.com links may be routed through the Stay22 affiliate service. If you book after following such a link, we may earn a commission from the partner, at no extra cost to you. This income helps keep the guide free and independent; it does not change which places we list.
Corrections and contact
If you spot an error or something that has changed, please tell us through the contact form at /contact. We review every report and update the page and its "checked on" date when a correction is confirmed.
FAQ
Can I book on Canary Days?
No. Canary Days does not take bookings. We link to partners and official providers, and any booking you make is with them.
Which languages is the site available in?
In six: English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French and Italian.
Where does the weather data come from?
The forecasts on our weather pages come from Open-Meteo. Long-term climate figures in our articles come from AEMET's climate normals, cited on each page.
