Parador de La Gomera
Canarian-style parador on the clifftop above San Sebastián de La Gomera
San Sebastián de La Gomera, La Gomera
Why we picked it
The Parador de La Gomera sits on Lomo de la Horca above San Sebastián, the island's capital and main port, looking across the sea to Tenerife and Mount Teide. Built in traditional Canarian style with wooden ceilings and planted courtyards, it is a convenient base for ferry arrivals and for day trips into Garajonay.
The Parador de La Gomera belongs to Paradores, Spain's state-owned hotel chain. The building follows traditional Canarian architecture, with wooden ceilings and courtyards full of plants, and it looks out over the sea towards Tenerife and Mount Teide.
Paradores lists an outdoor pool, a spa, room service, parking and a pet-friendly policy. The restaurant focuses on Gomeran and Canarian dishes such as almogrote, papas arrugadas and mojo sauces; in 2026 Paradores gives breakfast as 7:30–10:30, lunch 14:00–16:00 and dinner 19:30–21:30.
Location
San Sebastián is the capital of La Gomera and hosts its main harbour, so the parador is a natural first or last night for travellers arriving by ferry from Tenerife. From town, roads climb into the interior to Garajonay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its laurel-forest walks. The island's roads are steep and slow, so allow more time than the distances suggest, and expect mist and cooler air in the forest even when the capital is sunny.
